Feedback and Raised Issues

During the first design review, I received few feedback that raise some questions and issues in the design. Here is the list of 6 problems in the low fidelity wireframe.

1

Remove counting down days in priority banner.

Counting how many more days left adding anxiety to users. According to NRDC research, confusion about labels leads to consumers throwing out food that is still good, which adds to waste.

2

What’s the slider and why do they have different colors?

The sliders was intended to show how much of the produce left, because not all produce can be measured with quantity. On the other hand, the color supposed to rank produced by priority. Yellow means low priority, orange means medium, and red means high.
However, it adds complexity to the Information architecture. User will be overwhelmed with the information and would not be able to focus on the most important information.

3

Use more relevant examples.

Lemon is not a type of perishable produce, it could last in your kitchen for a long time. It’s important to show examples that is relatable for users and could drive curiosity for user to learn more (e.g: berries, meat).

4

Swap food journey with storing tips.

Similar reason with issue #1, move away from generating users’ anxiety on expiration dates. Information in the storing tips page is much more useful and it serves a bigger role in educating users.

5

Minimize user interaction and maximize results.

Visualization works really great, but it’s important to minimize user interaction and make sure that each interaction leads to a meaningful results for user. The user has to interact, the more friendly it is for users and hence would promote engagement.

6

Price and budget might mislead users.

By adding price and budget, it might indicate that users need to make a payment on the app to purchase itesm. Test it out to users and see how they react when seeing this page.
